Tried & True With A Dash of Woo
This podcast is about integrating tried and true strategies that we know actually work - in life, business, self-help; with the science of unconscious programming & the magic of manifestation. I’m a certified life and business coach and a professional photographer who built a multiple six figure business with a degree in Psychology while being a mom to three little kids. I had zero business training, so I dug in, learned the methods and now I’m passing that all onto you! I’m a self described brain geek and have certifications in things like RRT, NLP, Neuro-encoding and Amen clinic brain training and I’m always interested in hearing what you have to say on the topic of brain rewiring too. In this podcast, our conversations range from photography how to’s, systems and business strategies to more woo-woo stuff like energy healing, human design & the basics of manifestation - because well, I’m just kind of all over the place. I know that most creative entrepreneurs ARE a little neuro-spicy so I want to fire up your super charged brains and show you what’s possible.

You know the woman who's doing everything right and still feels like her body is falling apart? This episode is for her.
Dr. Shivani Gupta joins me to explain why so many of the symptoms we chalk up to "just getting older" are actually inflammation, and how to tell the difference.
- Why "this is just aging" might be the wrong story you're telling yourself
- The real difference between mental inflammation and being "stressed out"
- What your gut has to do with your brain (and vice versa)
- Why sprinkling turmeric on your food probably isn't doing what you think it is
- The two minute reset Shivani uses to stay out of fight or flight

Thank you so much for being I am, like I said before when we record, I'm going through a lot to be talking about today. So I want to just kind of jump off the bat, I want to start completely fine, right? She's productive. She gets everything done. I'm kind of talking about myself She might even be successful, but like internally she's exhausted, right? What's actually happening inside the body when somebody lives like that in that state for a long time. Well, here's what's interesting. I'm forty five. I'm in the middle of the midlife Sometimes we like to use the For much of our population, that So we can just call it midlife. We're in the middle. And at this moment, it's really starting to express, I I'm Exhausted. I'm dead tired at the end of my I've got brain fog. My joints are hurting. I wake up, I've got aches and My feet hurt. Maybe it's the plantar Or my hip hurts or my knee You name it. Maybe it's the frequent Maybe it's the afternoon crash. We all talk about that. We're all caffeinating to get past at the two three o'clock line. Um, there's a lot of symptoms, and a lot of times it's also around digestion. People will tell me my digestion is off the same foods I could eat before. I can't eat now. I don't understand why. And so my area of study has we're all struggling so much And that's what led me to health and healing called five thousand years old. And within Ayurveda, which is a beautiful system of health and healing, I teach about what I call the six Pillars of health, which is are we looking at our gut health? Are we looking at how we're Can we look at our circadian according to that rhythm? Can we look at the herbs and that can heal us? What is our self-care rhythm for And can we understand our own design that helps guide us? And so I have a whole framework But to answer your question, one into midlife inflamed, and that inside of our bodies. We, as we age, tend to get more and more oxidation in the system. We tend to have more Our mitochondria is declining. Our body is getting worse at So it tends to distort in our a great cleanse or detox, or cleanse it out. A lot of times our lymphatic glymphatic system in our brain And so it's like this stack up. Then you add on top of it the modern day life. And so you have women like us who are successful, hard working, focused, driven, pushing. We're pushing past a lot. And we had this give to push in You could push against sleep, could just get away with soda or were doing back then to push your body's like, um, no, we're This is eighteen signals for you And what happens to a lot of gosh, is this just aging? AM I aging? Is that what's happening here? And I have to just accept this accept that this is the new me? And what I always say to people This is inflammation. This is inflammation wreaking you feel like you're aging. And so all those voices inside, doesn't feel good. Take that and use it for good causing your inflammation. Get your blood work. Let's dig in deep and let's inflamed, what is the plan to Because we know inflammation at the end of the road looks really bad. That's why when we look at our parents generation, everyone comes up to me and is like, my mom's got knee pain and joint pain. My parents are suffering with heart attacks and all these things. And I'm always like, guys, this When you go to the doctor and you finally go to the specialist and you're like, something's wrong. And they say you have something. Itis. Itis means inflammation. And so when we're running like, what's wrong with me? They're like, you have something And it's like, how is NSAIDs and steroid shots the only tool kit you're going to offer me for that? Like, let's have the bigger getting to the root cause so we Okay. So many, so many things. I'm glad to come back to you. I agree one hundred percent. Um, before I was a coach and a therapist and I went to a very, massage therapy school. At one point, I thought I was going to go into to become a naturopath. Right. It was very interested in all of I had, um, endometriosis And so I've been like, once I moved to LA, I moved to LA when I was twenty five and coming from Louisiana when I moved to LA, this was back in the nineties. I was at all of the herb shops. I was at all of like, I wanted to find out like, how can I heal this endometriosis at the root level? Because just taking the pill Right? And I knew something deep down Yeah, but there's a reason for So now fast forward a long time I'm almost fifty six. And yes, diagnosed with very early menopause, full I was in perimenopause in my it because I had three kids And when I look back now, I have been living in a state of high stress, which for me like on the surface. And I think that a lot of us, a is we just think that that is, like we're just doing the things And then when you like sort of take that thirty thousand foot view, you're like, oh God, no. Like that was really, how do I do that? How did I actually get through Right? And so what that ends up being like when you ran through that I mean, like across the board and this is from someone who has done that work, by the way, right? So I have always been that kind Yes, I'm going to go and get my sure there's nothing urgent that surface, but I don't want to I don't want to just, you know, do the things that you're talking about. So that coming from it as a person who has some knowledge, right? Like not a ton, but like some hard for me. Yeah. And so I can even imagine, like this is all very new to you, Yeah, but I can, I, I can only is for somebody who really, this They're getting to it. Like they're hitting midlife, like you said, and everything starts hurting and they're like, wait, what? Yeah. And so it kind of feels like you've been lied to, right your whole life. True. And I want to talk about this term that you use called mental inflammation. Yeah. Because I'd never really kind of But that is a very like And I what exactly how do you how is it different than simply Sure. So, you know, for me, Ayurveda, because I was in this position. I was in college, I was Like what you're talking about. I'm so proud of you that you figured out endometriosis at sixteen. That's incredible. Most women, it's taken till their twenties till their thirties. They're gaslit. No one knows what they're doing when it comes to our women's health, which is infuriating to me. And we don't get our diagnoses And then the treatments aren't So we're not given our answers. And I find we're all running time, energy and money trying to And we're reaching into every By the time someone hears the word Ayurveda, they have usually gone to every specialist under the sun. I know I did, I was finishing My parents are like, what's We did neurology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, like you name an anthology. I was in the office. They were like, we think she's We think there's maybe a brain Maybe she's thyroid. We don't know. They were ready to prescribe all My parents looked at them like, know what you're talking about. She's twenty two. She's not got diabetes yet. Even though that is our family Um, and so I asked them, can you You know, we studied yoga. I studied Ayurveda in India. I think if we just detox me and And when I did, I finally felt brain back and I felt like I got And so when I eventually finally sat down and formally studied Ayurveda, I did my master's in it. And then I did my PhD on turmeric, which we can get into later. But I'm really obsessed with the herbs from Ayurveda that can help us. And so as I did that, I started And I realized if we don't build our lives, things get harder. But the problem is nowadays, if I taught you right now, Ayurveda, and I was like, here's how you win at gut health and diet and all these things, we as high impact, highly driven women will just turn it into another checklist. I have that tendency to one checklist and my notebooks are like unending. I've got notebooks, I've got calendars, I've got my executive life with me, trying to keep up. And what I realized was we kind forgot the joy. And we forgot the play. Because we got so busy on the Rat race of life. And that's kind of like the M.O. we've always had is just go, go, go. If you just are like a train. I think of myself as a train, and every once in a while I run into a wall like a freight train. But if you're running at full top speed all the time and never making space, then we're not going to win at our health, no matter how much we're spending or doing. And that's a trap. I think a lot of us get caught It's like, okay, just tell me I'll even show up to my doctors. I'm like, just tell me what to And they're like, Shivani, Like, come on, you have the We're just adding in pieces. We need you to take care of you. You can't always just teach and impact and serve and forget yourself. And so mental inflammation is that if we are chaotic and in over seven and never giving system, to our whole being. We're never going to be in rest We're never going to put the we're always going to be locked an inflammatory state. And it's a key piece that we we're consuming information on buy this, do this. If you just do this thing, one But what if the homework instead of tea three times a day. Take a couple deep breaths Put your phone down at every meal so you actually absorb what you're eating. Doesn't matter if it's organic, cramming knowledge in the brain are ingesting and putting into And so once that lesson finally It's taken a while. I was like, okay, I actually intuition to consistently and need for my body. And so mental inflammation is that understanding of if your mind is inflamed, your body will be inflamed. And when your body is inflamed have mental inflammation. That's a vagus nerve We call it the gut brain axis And it was always interesting to mental health and just the forgetting that so much of the through the body as well. And so that's why yoga is a That's why taking just a few minutes a day for meditation is great. And if you don't have time for show everyone how to do this in Like I call it a circadian walk. Any time of day, get out in Take a circadian walk. Align yourself to the sun and It'll use nature to heal you. Because nature and Mother Earth We've just been disconnected So many good points there, and it ties in very nicely, obviously, with what I do, right? I mean, I'm very big on bringing the unconscious to the get into that rest and digest You know, that's a very big you know, nervous system good, you know, because that But I do think that people think feel like, oh, that means I have But that doesn't always look Being regulated doesn't I mean, that could look very That's very unique to the person internally, like you said. Um, but I know that what you and the body sort of like because we tend to sort of like attached to this body. Like you were just saying, we Like we live in a very like, do, And we at least we have for a Yes, things are sort of I think, you know, we are talking more about women's health and yes, like the whole endometriosis conversation. Like I ended up being extremely Right? I, my, I was told at a very Mhm. You may not be able to have And so if I would have let that believed it, I probably wouldn't I ended up having one. And two years later, I had I was so fertile. And it was because I decided I'm Right? I'm going to dig into it on my And for me, that was it was a It was a lot of programming as a It was a lot of the way that I the all of those things, you And like you said in the my, my family, it runs in my things like that. And I understand that there are genetic components, but where does that line blur from, you know, actual medical history into. Yes, it's genetic because I was That's really what did it for me when I started looking into endometriosis. And I mean, like going back to Like I am an og woo woo girl and And in there she talks about and She's talking about how It's literally a denying of the It is like pushing, masculine, My whole life I've been doing Like it is a constant struggle And so practices like yoga and I I know I'm probably not saying traditional way, but that's the And I want to talk about how because a lot of people probably don't know what that is a really understand, um, you know what it is. And I really believe it's incredible, really powerful because I've experienced it myself. But this is also reminding me of get back on track with this. Renee. So it's very timely for me as So for people listening who've heard that word but really don't get it. You know, that's kind of strip How would you really explain For sure. Yeah. So Ayurveda is an entire ancient We have these ancient texts that subspecialties of medicine, about detoxification, talked that we know about. We might know about some new We have modern science showing us a lot of things, but it's fascinating how much was in Ayurveda as a knowledge base that is now coming out to be scientifically proven to be valid. And so we are now believing it and applying it at full scale as a society. Like the word circadian clock, circadian rhythm came from Ayurveda. And so Ayurveda, I look at it as It's root cause precision It was really the first system to build a lifestyle for health And so when we look at for example, also an ancient tell me Ayurveda predated it. I don't really know. I love traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture as well. So I consider them beautiful sciences that supported each other and shared certain philosophies and ideologies, just like they do acupuncture on the meridians. Ayurveda said, we have these how energy flows. We call it prana. They call it qi. We use turmeric, ginger and They have their own use of So if you're a fan of acupuncture, you would be a fan of Ayurveda. If you're a fan of yoga, you'd They are sister sciences. So Ayurveda is kind of like the mat, into the kitchen and And Ayurveda is very much a So I teach it as a rhythm. When I learned it as a kid in my it studying and kept digging. I was just so sick. I needed someone to tell me a I was like, I'm dying here. In my twenties, everyone else seems to have an immune system and the universe didn't give me one. So can someone please gift me I'll pay anything. I'll do anything. And so as I sat at the feet of these gurus in India, I got to see all these people coming through who had had horrible diagnoses, who were showing up, and they're like, it's miraculous. I'm healed. It's incredible. And I got to experience that And I was like, okay, so what is Is it a lifestyle? Is it a rhythm? What? And so truly, Ayurveda is a practice of eating in a certain way, understanding that food is nourishing to us and how to really absorb and digest that food. It's how to detox on a daily body is accumulating all these ones, but the mental and So everything you're consuming you purging and detoxing it on a And if you're not, we call that AMA this toxin residue that And then we also teach a concept called Agni or your digestive fire. And that fire in the center of you is like the robust fire that digests, that digests and processes and assimilates all the food and all the things you consume. And imagine how many of us have would now call gut dysbiosis. And it's not processing creates more and more toxin And that's what we would now This chronic low grade, persistent inflammation wreaking havoc inside of us, causing damage. And so Ayurveda taught us sleep according to the sun, wake with the sun, eat three square meals a day, practice intermittent fasting. Lunch should be your biggest That's when you have the biggest If you call yourself a night owl, that's because you're taking what we call ten to two on the clock, or the bit, the time of day, the fire time of day, and at night that fire turns on. And instead of using it for detoxification and clearing and healing the body, you're using it for your brain to get lit up and get to work and absorb and get your creative juices flowing. And so we teach everyone, if you sleep by ten, you won't have that fire turn on by midnight, you won't stay up till two a m and burn the midnight midnight oil, and thus give up your detoxification of your brain and body for the next day in the upcoming weeks. So Ayurveda is really a And one key thing we teach from mind, body, constitution, and And when I was writing my book, it with hay House. Speaking of Louise Hay. Yes, I wrote this book to show everyone we can take this lifestyle and build it into our own lives. And so I've been teaching week program for quite a while. And that's what's in this book. And in there, I talk about how build a custom rhythm every day, and you're fitting in peaceful You're building more and more So you're so full that when life throws what it's going to throw at us, life has thrown pandemics at us and chaos and all sorts of things. Whatever it happens in your built into your system. In Ayurveda, we call that ojas, like a vital reserve bank you've whatever comes your way. And so that understanding of you You can build a digestive fire, you can build a body that detoxes what doesn't belong every single day, and you can have a rhythm for your life that feels good and nourishing to you is the central theme of Ayurveda. And so that's why I love to teach it, because it saved my life. And it does every single day. Life definitely throws, throws I went through a book launch in the last year and through my and I took my entire house apart due to mold. And then I was like, whoa, okay, this is like so much stress at once. Look at how resilient my body is doctors and my acupuncturist, most people who show up with would be incapacitated. And you, you can just keep And I'm like, thank you. And she's like, but now I want nice to yourself. I need the break. And most of us imagine, just And so that's the homework. And, and it's also our homework to understand that we can just build it into our daily lifestyle. And then we're getting the And so we usually don't have, I know for myself, I don't exactly have two or three months where I can say, I'm just going to not work. No detox. And B, I'm not going to drive my Like those are not options for So I have to find a way to So it has the support it needs. Yeah. And I find that that is so Like I know people listening to this, so many women because I also want to, in a minute talk about this, the gut hormone sort of thing that you talk about as well, because that is really, really top of mind for me and a lot of people that I know, but I hear from a lot of women about this. I see this in my coaching, this to sort of get off of that Like the, the constant productivity, which I think is just like sort of like another addiction, right? Like there's a lot of things probably going on there, and it is tied a lot to programming and unconscious programming because like your unconscious mind is only job is to keep you safe and alive. Right. So if that's been your baseline keep trying to pull you back, That's why it's so hard to start something like this and to stick with it. That's the thing that I see So I want to talk to you and ask through that piece? Because first of all, I think know, that that, that saying of pain than seek pleasure. That is definitely tied to the unconscious trying to keep us safe. Like at the end of the day, but it's really hard to break because you have to want to feel better more than the pain of like changing this whole lifestyle, right? Like for some women that thought, especially those of us with very spicy brains, ADHD, whatever you want to call it, right? A lot of us have this diagnosis, or we've just finding out that we have these things, which again, inflammation. Hello? That's a whole other Yeah. But it is a piece of it. Right. It's like, well, I'm how do I, Because I like going to bed It's the only time that I have. And I like drinking this because Right? So there's all of these little like, huh, huh huh. How do you get women through Oh my gosh. It's not easy. And, and I'm one of those women, everything you described, like I'm scared to take my kid to get ADHD diagnosed because I just know what will happen when I see the questionnaire. I'm like, dang it. I don't want to know. I just don't want to know. I don't want to admit it, but On top of all the other diagnoses I got in the last year, I'm like, I'm sure that'll pile on. So. And and it's just so funny, We hit those walls and I usually find it's like the one thing that will cause us to be willing to change. For me, last year, what made me stop was my hair started falling out. I was like, do I have cancer? What is this? How can this much hair fall out? And so I started calling all my doctors because I make a supplement line that's carried by doctors. I'm calling one. He's like, I think it's insulin I was like, you're wrong. Call the next one. They're like, I think you just I'm like, it's not that easy. I call the next one. She goes, I'm sending you a mold call the mold dog company and again because everyone who nobody actually wanted mold. And I was like, I disagree. She goes, you're going to trust And it's, it'll save your hair. And I was like, okay, done, And so sometimes the pain button inside of us. Mhm. Usually the vanity button is a good one because we don't want to we don't want to lose how we look. That's a big motivator. Or the pain has to affect our Like I got a hip pain. That means I can't walk more or it just hurts. And I'm like, pain. Why is the pain there? I don't want to have lack of That's something to look at. And so usually I find the pain point with us to cause us to But you're right, it's not easy. And so when I do my program with women, a lot of times people book a free discovery call with me. I love doing those because I can for you or not? Because Ayurveda is pretty able to help everyone. And a lot of times I want you to go to functional medicine, get the diagnosis and the testing, and then let's fix lifestyle once we understand the real root causes. Um, and I'm also kind of into what I do at this point. I'm getting certified. That's part one, part two. When I do put people into my because I would always want to Inflammation. Let's cut those inflammatory Let's really, like, move through What I would find was if you really check in with women and get an understanding of where they're at, a lot of times they just need to do self-care and fill their cup back up because they're starting from such a low point. And so I quickly started give everyone an A, B, and C. refill my cup and practice I've gone through decades of along, taking care of everybody. I'm now close to Empty nester, I have kids in high school, Now that I feel like I'm close to empty nester and then or they are empty nester and the kids are gone and you're like, okay, I have all this time in my schedule. Where would I put this time now? And a lot of us will take it and I did that last year. I was like, let's write a book. Let's change the whole world. Let's grow the personal brand. Let's. And my team is like, whoa, time doesn't mean we should. Three X on the. The effort of this team like Yeah. Time. What if we instead took that energy and put it into ourselves and invested it back into ourselves? We know as we're aging, we're Also, interestingly, as estrogen declines, if you look at the science, it's like this shield of inflammation is off and we are less protected and we're becoming rapidly more inflamed in the brain, in the body, in the joints. And so we really have to take ourselves and we forget that. And so Ayurveda shows us beautifully how to really customize our self-care according to our mind body constitution. Are you a more air type? Are you a more fire type, or are And you come to know what your best diet, your best moves? And so in my programs, I've usually sat with women and literally filling the cup as first. Second is light or mild. Detox kindly, gently, and then third level, I'd call it the whole enchilada where we would like dig in because like you said, so many women are coming and their autoimmune gut dysbiosis, they don't feel like themselves. They're very fatigued, low energy, a lot of Hashimoto's people. So because the stack ups are pretty big now, I do want to get to the whole enchilada level with everybody. But sometimes you have to start And I think that's an important Nowadays, we can't always just strip out quick diets and body to give us a good result. The body needs to be dealt with It's not a brain separate from a Yeah, I think that's a really big piece of it because a lot of us do kind of feel like, you know, Well, going back to that possible ADHD thing, right, too, because a lot of my audience is it's an all or none kind of thing, right? Like a lot of us are like, well, I'm going to change my life overnight and I'm going to do everything. I'm going to go to the gym and kill myself at the gym, and I'm going to do this whole protocol and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Right. But there's so much to to be And you talk about this in like Like, you know, things that you between clients or whatever, And I do this a lot in my work It's like, okay, I know that that's the way that you're wired and that's the way you've been operating. But is that working for you? No. So how can we ease some It's not black and white. We need to get a little bit more And I think Ayurveda does that And as far as like the that's a big piece of it because this and they're like, oh, that one size fits all, but it's not. It actually is very specific, working one on one. But now obviously, I think you have a lot of this in the book as well for people so that they can kind of identify, would that be like the first step for people is to find that out, like kind of walk us through that for sure. So elemental design or your start because you then And so if you go to my website at doctor dot com, the free quiz is there. And when people take the quiz, they always email me back and they're like, how did you know that? And I'm always like, yes, I love I'm like, this is five thousand I just get to be a conduit of And you get to know, are you a Are you a more fire? You've got this robust fire in you, but that leads you to tend to burn out or explode on people. Are you earthy and you're just this loyal, kind, giving human who wants to feed everyone and love everyone. And you're not even built for that we're living in. And then the air and ether's always feel like, do I have ADHD? Why am I all over the place? Why am I scattered? Why can't I finish what I start? Why am I so anxious? And it's like, it's okay. It's a body type. But what people come to understand quickly is a lot of times we are doing the exact thing that is bad for our body type. So for example, I'm a fire type. I love hot sauce, chili food. Put a French fry in front of me. It's not going to exist anymore. I love fried food, but I choose it's bad for me. Um, anything that's like hot is It's the thing we're not supposed to do to stay the most balanced. And so once you start to understand your body type, all of a sudden you start to eat for that body type, sleep for that body type, live in rhythm gently. It's not a huge pile of things we do, like the two change the game. So, for example, I'm fiery. I'm married to a fire type. My parents were fire types, my We're all like fiery. And what I've learned is us fire don't want to know us. And that's been true my whole I get hungry all the time. I've got to be a fire type. Yeah. So I realized one day with my spouse on Saturdays, he's like, I'll handle soccer, I'll handle whatever. And I'm like, okay, let me just make sure the man is fed before he leaves him and the kids, because the whole day will go better. They don't know that they're all around without eating. But I know, and I also used to day at my office with my team. At the end of the day, right before I leave to get the kids, I pause. I make a cup of adaptogenic tea. I have all my healthy snacks at I take all of that, put it in my minutes as like my time to Listen to great music. Really downshift so that when I explosion of energy because I'm speed, and then they are coming them downregulate from all that. And so those are tiny examples. But the two minute reset is just the idea that we can drop back into parasympathetic. That's the verbiage we have now Yeah. Ayurveda said after you eat, We know now through science how Ayurveda said, get your feet. Get outside and get your feet in Align to the circadian rhythm so you are more grounded and Ayurveda taught us when you sip preferably with some great down the whole system and it's a And so I call that tea. Time is me time. And that's kind of an easy way keep doing what I'm going to do. I carry tea with me twenty four over seven, and I have five cups of tea a day, and I will pause every time. You can't chug a hot beverage, You can't chug it. So you're going to pause and So instead of taking that moment TikTok, could you take the same phone down and ask yourself some I feel today? What do I need to do for today What do I need to do for this muscle of your own immune your own intuition giving you Your intuition saying, Hey have dinner today. You haven't had a glass of water This week you said yes to that It's a no no. That energy is not Just say no. You are Can you build more space? My intuition talks to me all the time, and then I have to start crossing things off my calendar because it's like, yeah, you're crazy. That's not the way this is going You have said you want to be healthy and vibrant, so that means balance. And I think our intuition is we just don't create the space And once we do, all of a sudden Our intuition, you can call it your guides or angels, but really universe can come in and give us the guidance, the support, the answers that we can then start to practice to start to get those results that we want. I love that. Yeah. You can't really access any of in fight or flight and Yeah. You know, because everything is I always say it's like it's too So it does it gives you those Like, I love that, that example Yeah, it's, it's a choice. Everything is like that Like how, how do you want it to Like it really, you need to kind of be in the driver's seat there. I want to touch on really quickly before we start to wrap up. I want to talk about turmeric. Turmeric because you're like, Like I know we hear a lot about want to go a little bit deeper So what does that really mean? And how do we know we're really benefit or, you know, the right Right. So how would you, especially for with chronic inflammation right months, like, like it's kind of I, I, you know, how there's this maxing right now. I was like, I'm insurance maxing Like I have had three X-rays and two MRIs in the last four months because I'm like, what is going on with the shoulder, with the hip, with the knee, with the hand. And everything is coming back or it's this or it's nothing I'm like, really? No. Guess what? As estrogen declines, you should She wrote about the term the musculoskeletal syndrome of menopause. Yes. And I have been digging into And I'm like do I need to send surgeon I know? I probably do. I'm just going to email it to like, oh, it's just tendonitis. Would you like, I don't know. And I'm like, you should be bigger problem here. Progesterone. Estrogen. Thank you. Where am I at? Go get my blood work. AM I inflamed systemically? And again, if estrogen declines, perimenopause and then for sure and estrogen was controlling NF switch of inflammation. Literally it's like the lid is And I think that that's insane how do we hand women a toolkit Inflammation. And so it's so beautiful that I studied turmeric in my twenties and 30s. And now in my forties, I'm like, the one solution that I need in this moment is the thing I studied. And so to answer your question, turmeric, I talk about a lot in the book. I wrote a chapter on it since I Out of all the spices and herbs most because it has a very And again, going back to busy women and men who don't have time to do two hundred things, we need the select few that do the job. And so turmeric as a plant is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal. That's huge to me. It helps heal the gut lining bacteria and keeping the good. It's very powerful for anti And so it fights oxidation, but it also reverses oxidation in the system. So it's got this way of really senescent cells in the zombie causing damage inside of us. It helps get rid of any cells the bad kinds. And then it's also good at neurogenesis, new brain cells and mitogenesis, new mitochondria, which are our energy factories inside of our cells. And so all of that is what sold I was like, okay, given great. I'm a sick kid my whole life. I need the antiviral antifungal. We all have some level of mycotoxin and fungal issues, bacteria. We all have gut dysbiosis. You're telling me it'll kick out Amazing. I need that kind of support. What people don't understand about turmeric is they're all juicing it. They're all sprinkling it on People have told me all of this The turmeric plant in its raw When you dry it into the spice, it becomes more concentrated, more potent. We should all cook with it. It's great when you cook with Add black pepper or a healthy That's what's going to increase We know black pepper increases the absorption by two thousand percent. But what most people don't know is that of the entire turmeric plant, only three to five percent of it is the curcuminoids. Those curcuminoids are the most effective at helping to reduce inflammation. And so when people are like, turmeric on my food today. You know, I'm catching a cold. I'm like, that's like telling me gonna eat an orange. No, you're gonna go buy a bottle of vitamin C and you're going to start high dosing, a lot of great supplements for your immune system. So you can't just say, I'm getting the therapeutic result. Those curcuminoids deliver the And so when I was doing my PhD, I was like, okay, well then why is everyone not just giving me this? Like, how come it doesn't work I'm Indian, I eat turmeric every It's not magically helping with So that's when I realized if we most potent form in the correct Earth, and then also adding in going to get the result. And so around that time, what do I do for my sore throat? What do I do for my knee? I'm like, you can take turmeric And then they kept saying, okay, well, this is the one I bought on Amazon. This is the one I bought at the What do you think? And when I reviewed all the labels, first of all, it's confusing. Second of all, when they say the plant name of turmeric. So a lot of turmeric supplements in a pill. I think that's totally ripping A lot of times supplements don't have what they say on the label, which is obnoxious in my opinion. As a kid who's been sick my whole life, you can't tell me it's vitamin D and it's not vitamin D, that's just unacceptable. And so people were like, can you If you're so obsessed, can you And so that's what I did. I was like, okay, well, I'll something that's the best that doing this because I need to And so I found an ingredient in wanted, where we reach way above We drive such a profound result. I put it in the hands of doctors and they were all like, what is this? This is incredible. And I was like, yeah, and I made it in the United States, third party tested pre med and post production. It's tested for heavy metals and Like we are testing everything. So I feel good about it. And you can feel good about it. And so for the last decade I've been putting that product into people's hands. I have two formulas. I have turmeric gold, which follows the classic science of five hundred milligrams of pure curcumin with that black pepper, with turmeric added back in for the synergistic effect, really honoring Mother Nature and her approach. And then I made one called Inflammation Relief, because I really wanted to put the ancient wisdom into a formula and give you the boswellia with the curcumin, because then we're approaching inflammation from all directions. Cox two five lox nf Kappa B of pathways of inflammation to then And so that's been profound to see what the two formulas do in people's hands. And it's just been so great because people call me and DM me all the time, and they're like, my doctor told me to take this, or I found you online on a podcast and now I can use my hands again. I'm keeping my hand function. My back is okay, my knees are I can walk again. I can walk up the stairs. Shivani, like my allergies are My gingivitis is gone. It's been profound to see all the different ways it affects people because we're all so different. And so from there, I created because if we don't sleep well, Inflammation. So I got real obsessed with our Now, in perimenopause, I'm ever quality, and I use my sleep tea and brumby to get settle the the digestive system for a And then I keep playing. I made a menopause support tea because I was like, we need help with mood and hot flashes and night sweats. So that helps with that. Yes, girl. Then I made one called Unwind Tea with adaptogens because I was. When I get home, I need to be need to be a calm, kind human. So I made that one just to like, calm the heck down at the end of the day and not crave like wine or chocolate or something else to help us down, regulate and downshift. So I made a tea for that. So I'm always playing with the them in at like a functional we don't have time to just play We need like a result and we And I believe that ancient medicine has the tools we need in a natural form that we can absorb and use and then benefit from. Okay, sign me up. Like across the board. Like, and that's one of the the show is because I, I have very long time. Right? Obviously I told you like, I endometriosis with herbs. There was an herb store in LA at It's not there anymore. And like it was, it was like very probably kind of sketchy to most people. But I walked in and I was like, okay, I feel, I feel like this is and I would drink this tea every day. And I remember my roommate was And I was making it my own. Like I kind of formulated, this I'm really proud of myself for But that's the kind of brain I, I'm going to figure it out. But I was drinking this tea I. I think that's why I was able later when I, you know, was told So I'm a big believer. But hormones, yes. But like it has to be. It's so hard to find now, like you just said, like, what do you trust? You know, I look at those Amazon reviews and I'm like, mm, like, can you just tell me, is this real? Because there's no like And you don't want to just spend that's snake oil, right? For lack of a better word. But there is a lot of that out And so it's very, very, very So my greatest source, like I that one of my very dear friends is I, she is, I don't know, she This is like her, her world. And whenever she's kind of going through something, She'll just tell me like, so I have like that resource, but most people don't. So I love that you. I love that you're I love that That's the thing. So I thought, why not impact all Because all of us who are into supplements, we're going to keep experimenting and we're going to keep looking and finding and testing. And we're, we're self aware and we're constantly saying, is it working? Is it not? Most people who meet me say I'm taking turmeric, but it's not doing anything. Mhm. Like, I know guys that was me. It's not built for potency. It's not built for absorption. No one actually went and paid could possibly find just to That's what I did. And so they'll switch to mine That's crazy. And I'm like, okay, yeah, we won But what if every doctor we went something, itis said you could brochure in the waiting room, else's who's good and really This will be helpful to you Because I'm not a person who can My body react well, so I always have to find the natural solutions and have them in my house ready because I can't take whatever I'm going to be prescribed. I'll faint like it's a mess. Seriously. Me too. My dream is like, what if every really seeing the tide turn. It's taking me a decade. But now when I talk to physicians and I say, I have a PhD and this just try this on a few patients. They themselves are like, you about it all day. I would love to offer a safe option to at least instead of them just going to the drugstore on the corner and buying something that has no active ingredients. And so that's been really, I love that for like for so many know, my, my business brain just Right? So I love that you've been able to, first of all, just your whole story, how you're like, well, I just started playing like I started experiencing this. So I created this. And, and that's just like following those breadcrumbs and paying attention to what's going give that back to other people. I just think it's, there's so that we could that's a whole business side of this. But I do think that that is aspect as well. Just outside of the health about this whole episode, I And so before we wrap up, I don't want to keep you for too much longer, but you've got your own podcast, you've got the book. So, you know, tell people like where you like to connect. And, and I'm going to put all of this in the show notes for people too. Perfect. Amazing. So my book is called the You can get it anywhere books It's also on my website at On my website, you'll find my Code as well. And then my supplements are y formulas dot com.
